Probe agency NIA has revealed that militant groups based in Myanmar and Bangladesh conspired with a section of militant groups in India to carry out violent activities in Manipur, India Today reported on Sunday.

'Investigation revealed that Myanmar and Bangladesh-based militant groups have entered into a conspiracy with a section of militant leaders in India to indulge in incidents of violence with an intention to drive a wedge between different ethnic groups and to wage war against the Government of India', the NIA said in a statement according to media reports.

Earlier in the week, the anti-terror agency arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in the conspiracy.

Relentless ethic violence in Manipur since May 3, 2023 has claimed more 160 lives as per official figure.

Several hundreds have been injured and thousands displaced in violent protests between the Meitei and Kuki communities in the state.
