A fire broke out in one of the towers of Chennai's Rajiv Gandhi government hospital on Wednesday.

According to Tamil Nadu's principal secretary for health J Radhakrishnan, all patients in the affected tower were evacuated safely and no deaths or injuries have been reported so far.

According to reports, thick smoke from the fire made initial evacuation attempts difficult.
