Heavy traffic in Delhi as Republic Day parade rehearsal causes major disruptions

Commuters in central Delhi faced heavy traffic on Thursday due to the full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day parade. Key areas like India Gate, ITO, and Ring Road witnessed severe congestion, causing inconvenience for daily travelers.

A commuter shared their experience, saying, "Ring Road near the ITO loop and IP Extension was packed. The traffic on Vikas Marg was also very heavy. We had to take a U-turn near the IP Extension metro station." Similarly, vehicles near Shivaji Stadium metro station and Connaught Place were moving at a crawling pace.

Sneha Rai, a Noida resident, reported heavy traffic at the Delhi-Noida border due to security checks. "Apart from the border, congestion was severe at Ashram Chowk and on Ring Road. Road closures near C-Hexagon at India Gate led to diversions, causing long queues," she said.

To address the disruptions, the Delhi Police had issued a traffic advisory on Wednesday, detailing restrictions and diversions near India Gate. Despite these measures, the rehearsal created significant delays for commuters across the city.
