India has rolled out Covid-19 booster shots for all above the age of 18. Earlier the booster was only given to all 60 and above individuals.

The booster or precaution dose is the third dose of the vaccine that double vaccinated people can get.

All those above the age of 18 can now get the dose provided nine months have passed since the second dose. The precaution dose, however, will be the same as the previous two vaccine doses the individual received.

Only private players will be administering the dose for now.

Unlike those above 60 whose booster doses are free, those in the 18-59 age bracket will need to pay. Both Covishield and Covaxin are priced at Rs 225. In addition to that cost, hospitals are allowed to charge up to Rs 150 in service charge.

Both vaccines had a higher price tag. Covaxin was priced at Rs 1200 and Covishield at Rs 600. Both companies slashed the prices drastically after discussions with the government.
