The Congress party in its polls manifesto promised to scrap the Agnipath scheme and return to the old recruitment process of the Indian Air Force, Army, and Navy. The scheme was implemented in September 2022 to make the profile of the armed forces more youthful and tech-savvy. But, the scheme was met with massive resistance from Army aspirants.
