Colonel Manpreet Singh's last rites: hundreds pay respects, son salutes him

A sea of people gathered to witness the last rites of Colonel Manpreet Singh in Mullanpur Garibdass in Punjab's Mohali on Friday. 

Chants of "Col Manpreet amar rahe" and "Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal" were raised as the mortal remains of the fallen soldier was being carried for the funeral.

Jagmeet Kaur, wife of Col Manpreet Singh, bid her husband a final goodbye with folded hands. Their son saluted the mortal remains of his father.

Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit laid a wreath on Singh's mortal remains and paid tribute to him.  

Col Singh lost his life in the line of duty while fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag. Two other security officials also lost their lives in the encounter.
