China is reportedly ramping up construction of underground facilities in Aksai Chin to protect its soldiers and weapons from an aerial strike. The area is 70 kms away from the Line of Actual Control.

Multiple media outlets reported that an analysis of satellite images of the area taken on August 18 showed reinforced bunkers at three locations and tunnel-building activity at three more locations.

NDTV reported that analysts identified the presence of at least 11 shafts bored into the hillside on both banks of the river valley.

Hindustan Times reported that reinforced bunkers for troops have earth raised around them for additional protection from aerial or missile attacks.
