Chennai rains: Two dead in downpour; rain holiday declared for schools, colleges

As many as two people have died in the aftermath of heavy rains in Chennai since Monday.
The deceased, who reportedly passed away on Tuesday, include a woman who died in a wall collapse while a man was electrocuted in another rain-related incident.

The city has been lashed by downpour, resulting in waterlogged localities in and around Chennai.

Meanwhile Tamil Nadu government has declared a 'rain holiday' for schools, colleges in at least eight districts including Chennai, Tiruvallur and Ranipet.

Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains and thunderstorm across the state this week .
