Physical frisking at airports may soon be done only for fliers who are found to be suspicious even after passing metal detectors and full body scanners, according to a report by News 18 quoting Civil Aviation Ministry sources.
The report said that the ministry plans to deploy two to four full-body scanners at airports across the country in a phased manner, after which frisking of passengers, airport staff and airline crew will be done only in rare cases.
The report added that a suspicious person will be frisked intensively on the spot.
