AirAsia slapped with Rs 20 lakhs fine by DGCA for skipping mandatory exercises of the pilots

DGCA has penalised AirAsia with ₹ 20 lakh fine for violation of applicable DGCA Civil Aviation Requirements. As per the regulator body, it was found a few mandatory exercises of the pilots of Air Asia was not done during Pilot Proficiency Check as per schedule resulting in a violation.

Besides, the airline's Head of Training has also been removed from his position for three months over the violation.

Further, eight designated examiners have been fined ₹ 3 lakh each for the same.

Show cause notices to the concerned manager, head of training, and all designated examiners of Air Asia have been issued by the DGCA seeking answers as to why mandatory obligations were skipped.
