At least 22 students of a government school have been suspended for assaulting a pregnant teacher in Assam's Dibrugarh.

The students allegedly attacked the teacher after she highlighted a student's poor performance in studies to his parents.

According to Times of India report, a mob of about 40-50 students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya assaulted the teacher because they were unhappy over her complaint to a student's guardian.

The victim teacher was saved by her colleagues.

School principal Rathees Kumar took action against 22 students from classes X & XI whom he referred to as main 'perpetrators' from the lot of 40-50 students allegedly involved in the attack, the report added.

Kumar told TOI that the students also abused other teachers and brought liquor on the campus.
