Amid protest over Agnipath scheme, protesters blocked the Agra-Mathura highway on Friday as they clashed with police and other armed forces.
In a video that has now gone viral on social media, forces are seen coming to the rescue of an elderly couple who were caught in stone-pelting clashes.
The video shows forces firing at the protesters who are hurling stones from the other side of the highway.
Commuters trapped on the highway are seen ducking for cover as stones and bullets fly thick and fast.
Protests had broken out in Bulandshahr, Mathura, Firozabad and Ballia districts over the new scheme that envisages a short four-year term for soldiers in the three armed forces entailing no gratuity or pension upon retirement.
