Five people were arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district after a teenage girl allegedly raised pro-Pakistan slogans at a Jagran.
The Indian Express reported that the police have filed an FIR against nine persons — which includes the 15-year-old girl, her parents, her elder sister and her three other minor siblings. Two of her neighbours have also been named in the FIR and arrested.
The teenage girl and three of her minor siblings —all belong to a different community — have not been detained.
The arrests were made after the village head filed a police complaint alleging that the girl’s act was part of a larger conspiracy.
The girl’s uncle, however, claimed that someone made objectionable remarks against their community and his niece then went on the stage and raised an objection.
