4 LeT militants killed in 2 encounters in Kashmir; 2 involved in killing of artist Amreen Bhat shot dead

Four Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were killed in two separate encounters in Kashmir in a span of 10 hours by security forces.

Of the four, two killed in an overnight operation in Awantipora were involved in the murder of artist Amreen Bhat. A police spokesman said that an encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Awantipora area of Pulwama district.

In a predawn operation, two LeT militants were killed in Soura, where a cop had been shot dead and his daughter injured just a few days earlier.

Inspector General of Police (Kashmir zone) Vijay Kumar confirmed the encounters.

Amreen Bhat, who worked as a TV artiste besides being an emerging social media starlet, was shot dead and her 10-year-old nephew injured by ultras inside her house at Chadoora in Budgam district on Wednesday.
