24 patients, half of them newborns, die in Maharashtra hospital in a day

24 patients, including 12 newborns died at a govt hospital in Maharashtra's Nanded in the last 24 hours, according to its dean. 

Blaming a staff and medicine shortage, the dean of Shankarrao Chavan Government Hospital on October 2 said that the patients died due to various ailments and snake bites. 

He said the shortage of hospital staff was due to transfers.
