India likely to approve Oxford vaccine by next week

India is likely to approve Oxford coronavirus vaccine for emergency use by next week, news agency Reuters has reported quoting sources. Central Drugs Standard Control Organization reviewed Oxford-AstraZeneca application on December 9 and had sought more information from Serum Institute of India, which is making the AstraZeneca shots. According to the report, Serum has submitted additional data sought by authorities. If India gives go ahead, it could be the first country to clear the British drugmaker’s vaccine as the British medicine regulator continues to examine data from the trials.
