India expresses deep concern over escalating Israel-Palestine tensions

Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Palestinian militants, India has expressed deep concern at clashes and violence in Jerusalem’s Temple Mount as well as over evictions in Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan neighbourhoods.  India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador TS Tirumurti tweeted that India calls on both sides to avoid changing the status-quo on the ground. He stressed on the need to immediately resume direct peace talks and commitment to a two-state solution. India also urged restraint of all parties and to adhere to Security Council resolution, which reaffirms that ‘the establishment by Israel of settlements in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967’
