India evacuates entire Kabul embassy, Centre okays visa for Afghans

Special plane with evacuated Indian embassy staff and ITBP personnel from Kabul landed in Gujarat's Jamnagar on Tuesday.

India has pulled out all diplomatic staff from its Kabul embassy.

Indian ambassador, diplomatic staff and Indian nationals were evacuated in a special C-17 aircraft. The evacuation was carried out from a military airfield in Kabul.

Meanwhile, the External Affairs Ministry is preparing a list of Indian nationals still stuck in Afghanistan

The government has announced a new category of electronic visa to fast-track applications from Afghans who wish to leave the Taliban-controlled country. The new visa category is called "e-Emergency X-Misc Visa".

Earlier on Monday India's defence top brass, the foreign policy establishment and senior intelligence officials reviewed the fast-paced developments in Afghanistan, a day after the Taliban seized control of the country 20 years after it was ousted by a US-led military coalition.
