India reported a single-day rise of 39,070 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, pushing the cumulative total of the country to over 3.19 crore, according to the Health Ministry dashboard.
With 491 fatalities the death toll due to the viral disease shot up to over 4.27 lakh, the Union health ministry said.
The number of active coronavirus cases declined to 4,06,822, in the same period while 43,910 patients recovered from the virus.
India's overall Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 97.39% while the daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.27 per cent. It has been less than 3 per cent for the last 13 days.
The govt also informed that over 50.68 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far.
