India has announced Gandhi Peace Prize for Bangladesh's Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and Oman’s Sultan Qaboos. Both the receipients will receive the award posthumously.

Rahman is the founding father of Bangladesh and is credited with inspiring the liberation of the nation.

Qaboos was the longest ruling monarch of the West Asian nation and was key to Gulf nations ties with India.

The decision of the Gandhi Peace Prize comes as Prime Minister Modi prepares for his first international visit post lockdown to Bangladesh on the March 26.
