Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag and addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on Sunday to celebrate the country's 75th Independence Day. For the first time ever, two Mi-17 1V helicopters of the Indian Air Force showered flower petals at the venue just after the PM hoisted the flag.

The PM was received by Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh on his arrival at the Red Fort after which he inspected a Guard of Honour consisting of one officer and 20 men each from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Delhi Police.
