Increasing population a 'hurdle in development', need to control it: UP CM

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday unveiled the state's population policy and said that increasing population is a hurdle in the path of development and efforts were needed to control it.

He also urged people to educate themselves and others about the problems arising out of an increasing population.

UP's Population Policy 2021-2030 was unveiled at an event organised to mark World Population Day which is celebrated on July 11 every year. 

The state recently came out with a draft population bill that seeks incentivise people who follow the 2-child norm and penalise those who have more than 2 children.
