Thousands of people came together online to save the life of a three-year-old Hyderabad boy, Ayaansh Gupta who was suffering from a rare spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and required an injection that cost Rs 16 crore for his gene therapy treatment.
62,450 people contributed ₹ 14.84 crore through crowd-funding and the boy finally received the world's most expensive drug Zolgensma on Wednesday at Hyderabad’s Rainbow Hospital.
The boy’s parents were able to raise most of the money for his treatment through the crowd-funding platform ImpactGuru in around four months.
His father expressed gratitude to all the donors and ImpactGuru who gave Ayaansh a new lease of life.
