In a bid to curb fraud and misuse of Aadhaar numbers, the Department of Telecom (DoT) has launched a portal so one can check how many mobile numbers have been purchased under a Aadhaar number.

To check if your Aadhaar number has been misused to purchase a SIM that does not belong to you, here is what you need to do.

  • Log into the fraud prevention portal https://tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in/otp-page.php
  • Put it your mobile number after which you will need to validate it with an OTP
  • Post verification the website will showcase all the numbers that have been purchased with the Aadhaar associated with you mobile number.

Paytm chief Vijay Shekhar Sharma applauded this venture by the Govt on twitter, alerting netizens of the facility. Users were quick to respond as many were shocked to see multiple unknown numbers linked with their Aadhaar card
