Himachal Pradesh landslide: 11 dead, several people trapped, PM Modi promises help

11 persons have died in the Himachal Pradesh landslide triggered by incessant rain in the past weeks. 

Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday said that 50-60 people could be trapped under the debris after the landslide led to collision of vehicles on a highway.

PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to CM Thakur and assured him of all possible help in the ongoing rescue operations.

The landslide took place on the Reckong Peo-Shimla Highway in Kinnaur around 12.45 pm on Wednesday, news agency PTI reported.

A truck, a state-run bus and other vehicles are believed to have been buried in rubble.

ITBP spokesperson Vivek Pandey informed that around 200 jawans of 3 battalions of the central force have reached the spot .

Sharing latest updates,the chief minister said that teams of Indian Army, ITBP, NDRF and police are on the spot for rescue operation.
