In 2022, not only the health but also the hospital bill could have you worried sick. According to a report by ET, Apollo and Fortis are considering raising treatment package rates by 5-10% as costs continue to escalate.

Apollo Hospitals stated laying the justification of proposed hike the cost of sanitation, consumables, human resources and general inflation are eating into margins. Fortis as well resounded the same concerns as per the report. Fortis Healthcare highlighted that cost of treatment for patients has been stagnant since 2019 despite non-Covid revenues being affected by the Covid pandemic and profitability being hit by rising manpower costs, and other operating costs.

Most hospital chains have not yet returned to pre-pandemic business structures while the pandemic has raised overhead costs exponentially for the institutions.
