The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed a law student's Public Interest Litigation to suspend the use of "Traffic Light Violation Cameras" amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The Court also imposed costs of Rs. 2,500 on the petitioner, Utkarsh Trivedi a fourth-year law student.
The petitioner argued that traffic violation cameras deter drivers in front of ambulances to give way as they fear challans. The court stated that the PIL was filed without any homework.
"Every day half a dozen people come to give suggestions to the government," the court remarked, adding that people have started filing PILs based on idea they get while "sipping tea".
