Facing intense backlash from the farmers protesting the Centre’s 3 farm laws, the BJP-JJP government in Haryana has directed its ministers to avoid Independence Day flag unfurling in 7 ‘troubled’ districts, called so because of their vigorous participation in the agitation.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his ministers have faced massive protests from the farmers at multiple public events. The backlash has at times forced the ministers to reschedule or cancel functions.

According to a schedule released by the State Chief Secretary’s Office, Deputy Commissioners will unfurl the flag in Kaithal, Rohtak, Sirsa, Kurukshetra, Jind, Jhajjar and Sonipat.
