Govt extends tax compliance deadline; TDS, Form-16 PAN-Aadhaar linking end dates extended

The govt has extended tax compliance deadlines providing big relief to the taxpayer and companies. Here are the big changes to mark in you calendrar-:

  • More Time for Form 16: The last date for employers to furnish tax deducted at source (TDS) certificate in Form 16 to employees by employers has been extended till from July 15 to July 31.
  • Aadhar, Pan Linking: Deadline for mandatory linking of Aadhaar with permanent account number has been extended to September 30
  • Tax Tussle Settlement: The payment deadline for Vivad Se Vishwas direct tax dispute resolution scheme has been extended by two months till August 31.
  • Capital Gains Saving from Property Sale: Sellers of residential properties who want to invest in specified avenues to save on long-term capital gains tax on the profit made have been given more time to make these investments. Investments required to be made on or after April 1 can now be made up to September 30.
  • For filing foreign remittance certificates deadline has been extended till July 31
