'Gift from Ganga': Boatman finds newborn girl in a floating box

In a heart-warming incident, a boatman rescued a newborn girl who was left in a wooden box floating on the Ganga river in UP's Ghazipur.

Boatman Gullu Chaudhary, who found the infant in a box studded with pictures of Gods, has said that the wants to raise the girl as a "gift from the Ganga".

The baby is currently admitted in a district hospital and the state government has promised to look after her upbringing.

CM Yogi Adityanath lauded the boatman for his humane gesture and tweeted that he will get benefits from govt schemes.
