If you’re eligible to get a jab of the Covid-19 vaccine, go and get it but bear these health tips in mind to reduces your chances of facing any side effects.
Staying adequately hydrated before and after getting your vaccine is very important. So, drink plenty of fluids!
However, fluids do not include alcohol. You should strictly avoid alcohol as it can weaken your natural immunity and make it hard for the vaccine to do its job.
In terms of eating, there are no strict rules. But you must not fast or try drastic diets before the vaccine so definitely don’t go to the vaccine centre on an empty stomach.
Stick to a regular, home-cooked balanced meal. Avoid eating processed or sugary foods as they put your body under a lot of unnecessary strain. Apart from a healthy diet, make sure you get a good night’s rest before the shot day.
When it comes to post-vaccine care, the same rules apply.
Try to plan ahead and eat foods that are easy to digest. If you’re facing post-vaccine side-effects like nausea, fever, headache or tiredness, don’t stress about it. Eat like you would during a common flu episode.
If you live alone, it might be a good idea to do some post-vaccine grocery shopping, in case you don’t feel great enough to step out.
