Ganesh Chaturthi 2021: The police has imposed Section 144 in Mumbai for Ganesh Chaturthi from September 10 to 19 in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19

According to a new order issued on Thursday, the assembly of five or more people will be prohibited during the festival. Officials also said that devotees would not be allowed to visit pandals.

A government order dated June 29 had allowed for physical darshan with social distancing but the new order only allows for darshan via online or electronic medium.

Mumbai’s civic body, BMC also announced fresh COVID-19 restrictions ahead of the celebrations in Mumbai.

Ganpati processions - the main attraction during the Ganesh Chaturthi festive days - have also been disallowed to ensure no large gathering takes place in the financial capital of India.
