'Game changing' vaccine for Tuberculosis is almost here

A game changing vaccine for Tuberculosis is close to becoming a reality. Unveiled by a team of researchers from different corners of the world, the vaccine is made of of proteins from bacteria that trigger an immune response in the body.

It has been developed by pharmaceutical firms GlaxoSmithKline and Aeras.The existing BCG jab vaccine is not very effective. However, it may take a few years till the new vaccine hits the market.

The vaccine has already been tested on more than 3,500 adults in regions of South Africa, Kenya and Zambia.
