Fuel on Fire, Record high prices at pumps as petrol, diesel prices hiked for tenth time

Fuel prices are continuing their never ending upward spiral, fuel retailing companies hiked petrol prices by 23-27 paise a litre and diesel by 27-31 per litre across the major cities of the country. 

A litre of petrol now costs a record Rs 99.14 in Mumbai, while diesel is now retailing at Rs 90.71/litre

Calls for reducing tax on fuel are gaining momentum again as central and state taxes make up for over 61% of petrol price while they constitute over 56% diesel rates.
