The Maharashtra government recently announced that it will make food adulteration a non-bailable offence and offenders will be given a life-time imprisonment for the same. The malpractices in Maharashtra have continued the despite regular visits by the Food and Drug Administration. Substances like detergent powder and urea are added to milk for preservation, thereby threatening the life of consumers.
