Flight tickets set to be cheaper as the new price cap norms gives debt ridden airlines room for promotion to increase sale volumes in festive season.

The govt has decided to tweak the price cap formula, letting airlines set fares for travel beyond 15 days instead of 30 currently. As per The Mint this will encourage forward planning by travellers and enable airlines to run cheaper fares to encourage travel in the upcoming festive season.

Centre has also given the nod for allowing domestic carriers to operate at 85% of their pre-covid capacity however passenger count in early September was only about 60% of pre-covid level.
