The invite-only group called the Skinny Bitch Collective, a prominent fitness group, has faced major backlash over its videos that showed women exercising in Kenya and apparently using local people as workout 'props'. Russell Bateman, the London-based trainer who founded the group, posted the videos online and later an apology before deleting them after they attracted criticism. The fitness coach even deleted his personal Instagram account, but popular fashion critic account, Diet Prada reposted a series of the original images believed to have been taken in Kenya. Videos and photos show the women attending a retreat in “the ancestral lands of the indigenous Maasai tribe”. Commenters have accused the brand for being disrespectful towards Kenyan people.
