Farmers' protest: Haryana CM appears to defend Karnal SDM's 'crack their head' order

Days after Karnal SDM Ayush Sinha ordered cops to "crack the heads" of the protesting farmers, Haryana CM ML Khattar appeared to defend the police crackdown saying ‘strictness had to be maintained to ensure law and order situation’

He although admitted that "choice of words" by the IAS officer who instructed state police to beat farmers was "not correct".

Haryana police on Saturday lathi charged protesting farmers, injuring 10. Later that day, a video emerged that showed a top district official asking policemen to use force on farmers. The video sparked outrage drawing criticism from farmer union leaders, opposition parties and  state governors.

Responding to the demands for action against the SDM, Khattar said ‘any action that has to be taken would have to be first assessed by the district administration’ and that ‘the DGP is also looking into it’

'Meanwhile, Haryana Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala after promising action against the Karnal official, on Monday said 'police will use force when attacked'.
