Wales led by Gareth Bale crashed out of Euro 2020 after suffering their biggest defeat at the tournament as they failed to replicate their success from the last edition when they reached the semifinals. A spirited Denmark, thrashed Wales 4-0 in the 1st round of 16 clash in Amsterdam to head to the last eight of the European championships for the first time since 2004. Kasper Dolberg scored twice for the Danes along with a goal each from Joakim Maehle and Martin Braithwaite towards the end of the match. It was an emotional game for Denmark as before the game, Wales captain Gareth Bale presented his counterpart Simon Kjaer with a signed Wales shirt with Christian Eriksen on the back. Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest in Denmark's opening game of the tournament against Finland.
