Congress leader Rahul Gandhi  who has repeatedly criticised the government's handling of the pandemic, on Wednesday once again hit out hard at the government for continuing with work on the ambitious Central Vista project at the time when the country is grappling with the deadly wave of Covid which has crippled the healthcare system.

The government’s decision to bring the ₹ 1,500 crore construction work under the ambit of ‘essential services’, has angered the opposition.

"Central Vista- not essential. Central Govt with a vision- essential," the top Congress leader tweeted.
