Los Angeles, Aug 20 (PTI) Acclaimed playwright Arthur Miller’s iconic tragedy "Death of a Salesman" is making its way to the big screen, starring Jeffrey Wright and Octavia Spencer in leading roles.

Directed by Chinonye Chukwu and adapted by Chukwu alongside Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner, known for "Angels in America," the film's development was reported by Deadline.

The original play centers on Willy Loman, a character experiencing a decline in mental health, told through a fusion of dreams and memories. A critical work in the theatrical canon, "Death of a Salesman" has captivated Broadway audiences since its debut in 1949.

Jeffrey Wright will portray the central character, Willy Loman. Wright is renowned for his performances in prestigious films such as "Syriana," "The Lady in the Water," and the James Bond series including "No Time to Die," "Quantum Solace," and "Casino Royale."

Additionally, Wright is known for his roles in the "Hunger Games" series, Wes Anderson's "Asteroid City" and "The Phoenician Scheme," as well as the 2023 Oscar-nominated "American Fiction." His previous work in a TV adaptation of Kushner’s "Angels in America" earned him an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer, known for her performances in "Fruitvale Station" and "Hidden Figures," also stars in the film.

The production will be undertaken by Amblin Entertainment with Cindy Tolan and Kristie Macosko Krieger as producers. Spencer will produce through her Orit Entertainment banner, and Kushner will also serve as a producer. The film is set to release on November 27.
