Production has commenced on the ‘Game of Thrones’ spinoff series ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ in Belfast, Ireland. Five new actors, including Finn Bennett, Bertie Carvel, Tanzyn Crawford, Daniel Ings, and Sam Spruell, are joining the cast.

HBO unveiled the first look of Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall on Instagram, prompting reactions from netizens. One user commented, ‘He looks perfect!’ Another user agreed, stating, ‘If this is Dunk, then the casting is spot on for me.’

Sarah Adina Smith will direct three episodes, while executive producer Owen Harris will direct the remaining three. Based on George R. R. Martin's novella ‘The Hedge Knight,’ the first season will follow Ser Duncan the Tall and his young squire, Egg, set roughly 100 years before ‘Game of Thrones’ and 100 years after ‘House of the Dragon.’

Their adventure leads them to a tournament where they meet various members of the Targaryen family, including Prince Aerion Targaryen (played by Finn Bennett), Prince Baelor Targaryen (played by Bertie Carvel), and Prince Maekar Targaryen (played by Sam Spruell). They also encounter Ser Lyonel Baratheon, known as the Laughing Storm (played by Daniel Ings), and a puppeteer named Tanselle (played by Tanzyn Crawford).

The full logline for the series is: ‘A century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.’

The show is written and executive produced by George R. R. Martin and Ira Parker. Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris, and Sarah Bradshaw are also executive producers.
