Enid Blyton's beloved children's classic, ‘The Magic Faraway Tree,’ is getting a film adaptation with a magical cast! Bridgerton's queen of gossip, Nicola Coughlan, joins forces with Nonso Anozie from ‘Ted Lasso.’
The starry cast now includes Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Nicola Coughlan, Jessica Gunning from ‘Baby Reindeer,’ and Nonso Anozie.
Bankrolled by Neal Street Productions, Elysian Film Group, and Ashland Hill Media Finance, the film's cast announcement on June 6 has sent fans of all three franchises into a frenzy of excitement.
Nicola Coughlan stars as a Woodland fairy, Silky, Nonso Anozie as Moonface, Jessica Gunning as Dame Washalot, and Dustin Demri-Burns as Saucepan Man. Lenny Henry, Michael Palin, and Simon Russell Beale stars as a group of magical, wise men.
The Magic Faraway Tree synopsis
‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ follows Polly (Claire Foy) and Tim Thompson (Andrew Garfield) and their three children, Beth, Joe, and Fran, as they move to the English countryside. There, the children discover a magical tree and its extraordinary residents, including Moonface, Silky, Dame Washalot, and Saucepan Man.
At the tree's pinnacle, they embark on journeys to marvellous realms, facing both intrigue and obstacles. These adventures help the family rediscover their connection and begin to appreciate each other anew after years of neglect.
The script, penned by Simon Farnaby (known for ‘Wonka’ and ‘Paddington 2’), will be directed by Ben Gregor (known for ‘Britannia,’ ‘Cuckoo,’ ‘Black Ops,’ and ‘Fatherhood’). The production is backed by Oscar contender Pippa Harris (known for ‘1917’) and Nicolas Brown (also involved in ‘Britannia’ through Neal Street Productions). Filming is set to begin in the coming weeks across the United Kingdom.
