New Delhi, Sep 10 (PTI) "Harry Potter" star Tom Felton has taken to social media to share his excitement about the upcoming series "Gandhi," which made its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and received a standing ovation.

The series, which explores the life of Mahatma Gandhi, features Pratik Gandhi in the lead role as the iconic freedom fighter, while Felton portrays a close confidant during Gandhi's time in London.

On Tuesday, Felton posted pictures with the cast and crew, captioning them, "To my brother in arms @pratikgandhiofficial and the cast and crew that made this happen." He further expressed his pride by stating, "What an honour it was to premiere 'Gandhi' at @tiff_net to a standing ovation this weekend - @hansalmehta."

"Gandhi" distinguishes itself as the first Indian series to be showcased at TIFF. It draws its inspiration from the books "Gandhi Before India" and "Gandhi: The Years That Changed the World," penned by historian Ramachandra Guha.

The show spans the period from 1888 to 1947, with the first season zeroing in on Gandhi's formative years between 1888 and 1915. Subsequent seasons will cover his journey from 1915 to 1932, followed by 1932 to 1947.

Developed by Hansal Mehta and Sameer Nair, the series is produced by Nair, Siddharth Khaitan, and Deepak Segal. The cast also includes Bhamini Oza as Kasturba Gandhi, Amar Upadhyay, and Judd Berg in significant roles.
