New Delhi, Aug 26 (PTI) - The legendary "The Godfather" trilogy by American filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola is set to make a grand return to theaters across India in a newly restored 4K version, as announced by PVR INOX on Tuesday.

These iconic films — "The Godfather" (1972), "The Godfather Part II" (1974), and "The Godfather Part III" (1990) — are being re-released in selected cinemas, with the first film premiering on September 12, followed by the sequels on October 17 and November 14, respectively.

Adapted from Mario Puzo’s acclaimed novel, the trilogy is considered a hallmark of global cinema, introducing audiences to the formidable Italian-American mafia family led by Don Vito Corleone, portrayed by Marlon Brando. The series explores the transformation of his son Michael, played by Al Pacino, from a hesitant outsider to a formidable mafia leader.
