Megastar Yash recently made headlines when reports suggested that he is being considered for the role of Lord Hanuman in Prasanth Varma’s ‘Jai Hanuman’. The film is a sequel to the Teja Sajja-starrer HanuMan, which released this Sankranthi and is currently running in theatres.
Now, Yash’s team has denied these claims in an interview with India Today.
According to India Today, a source from Yash's team dismissed the reports as 'baseless and false.' Regarding Yash's potential involvement in the sequel, a source informed the portal, ‘There is no truth to the reports, he is not considering any such role. Rocking Star Yash puts a lot of time and consideration into each film he chooses to do, and right now he is completely consumed with 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups'.’
There have also been reports that Yash has agreed to portray the character of Ravan in Nitesh Tiwari's ‘Ramayana.’ Despite previous rumours last year suggesting he declined the role, ongoing reports persist that he has joined the project. The film is also rumoured to feature Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. However, neither the film's team nor the actors have officially confirmed these reports yet.
‘HanuMan’ emerged as the underdog amid several big-budget, star-studded releases during Sankranthi. Competing against movies like ‘Guntur Kaaram’ starring Mahesh Babu and Sreeleela, ‘Saindhav’ with Venkatesh, Shraddha Srinath, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, as well as ‘Naa Saami Ranga’ featuring Nagarjuna and Ashika Ranganath, ‘HanuMan’ managed to hold its ground at the box office. The film not only found success in the Telugu states but also garnered attention in North India.
Yash recently appeared in Prashanth Neel's ‘KGF: Chapter 2,’ reprising his role as Rocky Bhai. His upcoming project, the Kannada film ‘Toxic,’ is scheduled for release in April next year. Notably, Yash, known for his involvement as a creative producer in his films, has now taken on the role of co-producer for ‘Toxic.’ The film will be released under his banner, Monster Mind Creations, in collaboration with KVN Productions. The announcement video for the film has generated significant anticipation.
