Veteran Tamil actor Sarath Babu passed away in Hyderabad on Monday. He was 71. The actor died while undergoing treatment at AIG Hospital. In a statement, the hospital said Sarath passed away due to multiple organ failure.
As per reports, Sarath Babu was initially admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru due to ill health and was later shifted to Hyderabad after his condition deteriorated.
Sarath Babu made his acting debut in 1973 with the Telugu film ‘Rama Rajyam’. He rose to fame with K Balachander’s ‘Pattina Pravesam’ (1977).
He acted alongside superstars like Kamal Haasan in ‘Nizhal Nijamagiradhu’ (1978, Dir. K Balachander), Rajinikanth in ‘Mullum Malarum’ (1978, Dir. J Mahendran), N T Rama Rao in ‘Srungara Ramudu’ (1979, Dir. K Shankar), Jaishankar in ‘Mudi Sooda Mannan’ (1978, Dir. R Vittal) and Chiranjeevi in ‘Idi Katha Kaadu’ (1979, Dir. K Balachander).
Besides Tamil and Telugu films, Sarath Babu also acted in multiple Malayalam films such as ‘Sarapancharam’ (1979, Dir. Hariharan), ‘Hrudaya Hrudaya’ (1999, Dir. M S Rajashekar), and ‘Neela’ (2001, Dir. T S Nagabharana).
