‘RRR’ star Ram Charan is overjoyed that the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from his blockbuster film has been shortlisted for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category. Taking to social media, the actor congratulated the team of ‘RRR’. Calling it a historic moment, he wrote, ‘What a historic moment for the entire Indian Film Industry… Couldn’t be more honoured to note that #NaatuNaatu becomes the first Indian song to be shortlisted for the Academy Awards! @ssrajamouli garu and @mmkeeravaani garu, it’s all your vision and magic..#RRRForOscars.’
‘Naatu Naatu’, picturised on Charan and Jr NTR, has been crooned by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava and its iconic dance moves have been choreographed by Prem Rakshith. The music of the song has been composed by MM Keeravaani.
A total of 15 songs have been shortlisted from among 81 tunes in the Best Original Song. Other songs which have been shortlisted include 'Nothing Is Lost' from 'Avatar: The way Of Water', 'Lift Me Up' from 'Blank Panther: Wakanda Forever', 'Hold My Hand' from 'Top Gun: Maverick' among others.
Indian film 'Chhello Show', India’s official entry to the Oscars, has also been shortlisted for the Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category.
'RRR' was released in March this year and went on to become a huge commercial success grossing over ₹1200 crore worldwide. The film also featured Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles.
