‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ had a brilliant opening with a collection of Rs 32 crore. However, on Saturday, it saw a dip. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film managed to earn Rs 24 crore.
According to the website, 'PS 2' had an overall 59.47% Tamil, 23.48% Malayalam, 34.63% Telugu and 14.42% Hindi occupancy. The Mani Ratnam directorial now has a total collection of Rs 56 crore.
The film stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi, among others. ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ was originally meant to be a single film, it was split into two parts and then produced simultaneously.
The first part of the film which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novels made the biggest opening ever for a Tamil film which was Rs 80 crore globally. It made a gross collection of Rs 500 crores worldwide. 'PS 2' is also expected to have a successful run in cinemas.
