Renowned Malayalam film producer and Mathrubhumi director PV Gangadharan passed away at 80.
He died at a private hospital in Kozhikode on October 13th morning. He was ill and was under treatment for a week.
Several celebrities took to social media to pay tribute to the late film producer.
PV Gangadharan’s body has been taken to his residence in Azchavattom, His mortal remains will be kept at the Town Hall for the public to pay homage.
PV Gangadharan’s last rites will be held on October 14.
The film producer is survived by his wife PV Sherien and children Shenuga Jaythilak, Shegna Vigil and Sherga Sandeep, who run a production house called S Cube Films.
Gangadharan has produced many films under the banner Grihalakshmi Productions which have become the hallmark of Malayalam cinema. Some of the hit films include ‘Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha,’ ‘Angaadi,’ ‘Ekalavyan,’ ‘Achuvinte Amma’ and ‘Kanaakkinavu.’ In addition to his prolific career in film production, Gangadharan served as the Vice-President of FIAF, a prominent global association of film producers.
He also served as chairman of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation.
P V Chandran, the Managing Editor of Mathrubhumi, is the elder brother of the late P V Gangadharan.
PV Gangadharan ventured into the political arena as a KSU activist and was a member of the AICC. In 2011, he contested for the assembly from Kozhikode North constituency as a UDF candidate.
PV Gangadharan was born in Kozhikode district in 1943 as the son of KTC Group of Companies founder PV Samy and Madhavi Samy.
